Toni Rohmen was born in July 1953, Germany. He is a master painter by trade.

He read his first FIX UND FOXI magazines at the age of 7 and soon got hold of the Lehning magazines that circulated in "comic wonder bags" in the 1960s. He didn't have any pocket money yet, so he acquired a respectable collection through bartering. His two brothers read the comic books, but they never collected them. He started collecting comics around the age of 11. Toni now had pocket money and he was able to buy the comic books himself from newsagents. His comic collection grew and grew.

After he met a girlfriend in 1970, he simply felt far too old for comics and gave all his comic books to his brother, who sold them very quickly. In 1980, Toni read a big report in a daily newspaper about the then German "comic king" BENEDIKT TASCHEN from Cologne. At the time, he still had a small comic store in Lungengasse in Cologne. There Toni immediately bought his favorite series FALK in its entirety. He financed this purchase by producing a Rembrandt painting for a collector of old masterpieces. In addition to collecting comics, Toni Rohmen is also a passionate illustrator, although as a master painter he should actually have enough of painting! He comes from a very artistically talented family. First his grandfather, then his father was a landscape painter and Toni has been continuing this tradition since 1970. But Toni soon had enough of landscapes and turned to drawing portraits. He likes to draw from models. Even as a young boy, he traced and copied from comic books. When Toni got his hands on the BIG HANSRUDI WÄSCHER book from Norbert Hethke-Verlag in 1987, he was straight back into it. He worked as a colorist for Norbert Hethke-Verlag for a long time. Here he was able to express his passion for coloring to his heart's content by recoloring comic books.
